The Redemptorist/New Orleans Vice Province is a branch of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists) a male religious order founded in 1732 by St. Alphonsus Liguori. The charism of the Redemptorists is to "Proclaim Plentiful Redemption to the poor and those most in need." The New Orleans Vice Province was established on November 30, 1952 and is canonically connected to the Denver Province. Our boundaries include Kentucky, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Alabama, and Tennessee.

Mission Statement:
CALLED IN MANY WAYS

The Mission of the Redemptorist Congregation is to proclaim the gospel message of Jesus especially to those most in need spiritually and to the economically poor. The thrust of this mission is to bring about lasting conversion and ongoing spiritual growth in God's people: to lead them to an enlightened understanding of their dignity and liberty as redeemed Christians; to heal the alienated by showing at all times the mercy and compassion of Christ and to bring all to an experience of Church as God's Family.
The Redemptorists of the Vice Province of New Orleans are committed to dedicating themselves to the continued development of service to the Church, especially to those most in need of spiritual help: youth, the alienated, and those caught up in the pursuit of secular and materialistic society and way of life. We have particular concern for the economically poor and those who are disadvantaged - either because of racial and ethnic prejudice, language limitations, or because of physical disability. In pursuing this work of evangelization we will attempt to meet the various groups for whom we work at the point most meaningful to their life situations.
All baptized persons are called to share in God's Mission through mutual service, through a life of worship and through witness to the gospel by one's way of life. These are the hallmarks of Christian living.
Most laypersons are called to transform the world, by advancing the Kingdom of God amidst the pressing demands of marriage, family, school and the workplace.
